Brenda Joyce Gregory

Brenda Joyce Gregory was born in Burnwell, West Virginia on January 1, 1945. She was the sixth (6th) of eight children born to their parents, Tazewell and Nannie Franklin. She received her formal education through the Fayette County Public Schools system, graduating from Collins High School in Oak Hill. With an urgent desire to better her station in life, she later attended and earned certifications at the Garnett Career Center. With her thirst for knowledge still not satisfied she enrolled in studies at West Virginia State College—now operating as West Virginia State University. Sister Gregory was married to William Charles Kimbro—deceased—and later to John Franklin Gregory, also deceased. Brenda retired from Bell South Telephone Company. Early on, she did household daywork for various affluent families in her community. Eventually, she was licensed as an insurance agent for Supreme Life, an African American Insurance Company. She often held multiple jobs at once, in order to accommodate her responsibility as a single mother. Among the things that she enjoyed in her leisure are reading, cooking, and playing the guitar. Upon retirement, she was given a certificate for meritorious service. She also was the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation from the Full Gospel Assembly Women’s Ministry. An ordained elder with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., Brenda Gregory was long time member of Morning Star Tabernacle in Gallagher, West Virginia. She served faithfully as Assistant Pastor to her pastor, C. A. Joyce. After that congregation disbanded, she and her family joined the membership of Full Gospel Assembly in Huntington, where she was faithfully engaged in the ministry until her health began to fail. Elder Gregory responded to the Lord’s invitation to join with him in Paradise on Thursday evening, August 10, 2023. In addition to both parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Ruby Wright, Martha Pace, and Grace Crisp. Left to cherish her memories are children: William Kimbro (Tina Mann), Russell (Tina) Kimbro, Alice Kimbro, and JoAnna Gregory; bonus children: Eric (Mariana)Knapper, Kelly Jones, Jason Gregory, Kevin (Nicole) Gregory siblings: Tazewell Franklin, Jr., Kenneth Franklin, Ida Franklin, and Emma Franklin. Also, included among those who mourn her earthly loss are her beloved grandchildren: Andre Barron, Marques, Brittany, and Tennisha Johnson, Ronald (Amanda) Reynolds, Camilia (Phil) McMorris, Shanice, Devon, Russell Terrell, Christopher, and Ebony Kimbro, Tamara Hamlin, and a multitude of other family and friends. Elder Brenda Gregory will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her. Going Home service will be conducted 12:00PM Friday, August 18, 2023, at Full Gospel Assembly with Bishop Samuel Moore officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2023, at Full Gospel Assembly.
