Geraldine Beatrice Jackson

Death has once again come into our midst and taken from us one of our loved ones. But we know that “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord” Revelations 14:13 Geraldine Beatrice (Rotan) Jackson, 82, of Huntington, WV was called home to be with the Heavenly Father on September 26, 2024. Geraldine was born November 22, 1941 in Fayetteville, WV to the late Vivian and Hattie B. (Scott) Rotan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Samuel L. Jackson; two sons, Samuel J. Jackson II, and Jonathan “Bro” Jackson; two sisters, Consuelo “Connie” Jeffreys and Natalie Barnes; five brothers, Buster, Ballard, Bobby, Bill & Buddy Rotan; two grandsons, Brandon Jackson and Eric “Scotty” Jackson. Survivor’s include her loving daughter’s, Angela Rene Jackson, Tara McKinney (Noah), Tammy Snowden (Reggie) and Greta Jackson; grandchildren, Chante’ Mandola, Joshua Mandola, David Wade II, Dominique Wade, Ashley McKinney and Nicholas Jackson; great grandchildren, Trinity Jackson, Erikai Jackson, Mekhi Dove, Marianna Patterson, Maniya Foster, Davian Jackson, Joel Smith, Londyn Wade, and Samuel Wade; two sisters, Eva Layne and Rebecca Walker; sister-in-laws; Shirley Rotan, Cathi Rotan, Freddie Hardy and Constance Beavers, along with a host of relatives and friends. As a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, we, as her children, witnessed her devotion to God and her unwavering faith. Geraldine was a stay at home mom until her four children entered grade school. She then went to work for the Cabell County Board of Education in various schools, as a Teacher’s Aide until her retirement. After retirement, she found joy in feeding those who needed a meal, baking cakes and pies for whomever wanted one and working in her flower beds (with no shoes), as she hated shoes! Jeri, Mama, Nanny and Mama Jack, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by an abundance of love and compassion. She was also known for being a kind-hearted woman who loved her family and friends. She encouraged fellowshipping together and loved to host gatherings. She neither complained nor bragged about her good deeds, but quietly met the needs of others without seeking recognition. A Home Going service will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 11, 2024 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Huntington, WV with Pastor Emeritus Reginald Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, WV has been entrusted with serving the Jackson Family.
