Katie "Kay" Virginia Moran

Katie "Kay" Virginia Moran, 70, of Martinsburg, WV unexpectedly passed away at her home on Friday, April 22, 2016. She was born September 6, 1945 in Washington D.C. to her mother, Virginia Sparkenbaugh. From an early age she was a force to be reckoned with. Her kind and generous spirit meant she would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Although she had her share of trials and tribulations in her life, she always looked at the positive side of everything and knew God would always make a way. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and was so proud of her little family. She is survived by her daughter, Katie Telfer; grandson, Brandon "Boogie" Patterson, Jr.; granddaughter, Molly "Moo" Telfer; sisters, Linda Fincham and Viki Knight; son-in-law, Donnie Telfer. Also surviving are a few close friends, many who knew and loved her and a host nieces of nephews. She will be remembered for her down to earth-kind hearted spirit, her love for her family and animals, especially cats. A close relationship with the Lord, her comedic personality and her giving nature, which is what lead many to love her and call her a friend. She enjoyed dancing, laughing, butterflies, playing cards, reliving her life through telling her amazing stories, cooking and spending time with her family. She couldn't have been any prouder of her family, she had photos on stand by of her grandchildren to show everyone where ever she went. She loved her Redskins football win, lose, or tie. She enjoyed life, accepted everyone for who they were and put everyone else first. Kay will be and is incredibly missed and loved forever by those who were blessed enough to know and love her. She left a space that no one will ever be able to fill, she was one of a kind. The family wishes to thank Sylvia Easterday for her dedication, care and loyalty as Kay's caregiver and friend.
