Lana "Susie" Marie Early

Lana Marie "Suzie" Early, 60, formerly of 1820 10th Avenue, Huntington, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on September 13, 2011 at King's Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Ky. She was born December 6, 1950 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Alfred L Early, Sr and Larra Wilson Early. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Flora Williams and her maternal grandfather Cornelius Wilson, paternal grandparents Robert S Early, Sr and Mallie D Early and a special cousin, Doris A Hill Kelly. She leaves to mourn a very special great-nephew, which she adopted, loved and raised as her son, Christopher S. Early of Chattanooga, TN, her brother and his wife, Rev. Dr. Alfred L. Early, Jr and Maria Early of Tampa, FL, two brothers, Leroy Early of Columbus, OH and Alfred Leroy Early of New Bedford, CT a sister, Carolyn Nicks and Family of Huntington. A nephew and niece, that considered her house home, Larry L Hill and Kristina L early Smith, both of Huntington. Nieces, Jemila Early and family of Staunton, VA, Elizabeth (Chris) Early-Rosati, Baltimore, MD, Shevone J Kelly and family, Huntignton. Nephew, Joseph L (Marcy) Early, California. A great-niece, Mickayla E Chambers, Huntington. A great-great nephew, braylon K Gillispie, Teays Valley, WV. Special friends that stood by her during her extended illness, Etha Mae Scott, nettie Jackson, Rae Ray Fraxier, Phyllis Rollins and Diane Walker Johnson. Lifelong friends Annette Waiters, Shonee Jordan Robinson, Cynthia minor, Reva "Kitty Kat" Woolfork and Zenobia Minor Lathan. Also , a very special friend of the family Greg Thompson. "Aunt Suzie", as she was affectionately known by many, loved children. There were many "nieces, nephews, pumpkins and poopies" that adorned her life. Aaron White, Monique White Gordon and Curtis "Thimper" Rollins were among those that were touched by her love. Lana retired from Marshall University after 20 years of dedicated service. While at Marshall she became a friend to many who had come to the university to receive an education. For all of those who knew "suzie", she was indeed full of life and didn't know any strangers. When she was around a good time was had by all. She will be greatly missed and was deeply loved. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Jo-Lin Health Care Services, Ironton, OH and to the ICU Nursing Staff at King's Daughters Medical Center. Visitation for friends will be 5-7pm Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral home, Huntington. Funeral Services will take place Friday, September 16, 2011 at Full Gospel Assembly Church, 2101 10th Avenue, Huntington, WV at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
