Marcella L Clayborn

Marcella L. Clayborn Of Huntington, WV., passed away, March 2, 2025 at the age of Eighty-Eight years and Three days. She was born in Matewan, WV, February 27, 1937 to the late George Spaulding & Alta Terrell. Marcella was also preceded by her beloved husband, Preston Clayborn Jr; one son, Charles Edward Terrell and one brother, George Spaulding; two sisters-in-law, Esther Gilmore and Mary Lee Campbell, three brothers-in-law; James Clayborn, Gene Clayborn, Marvin Clayborn and one cousin Theodore Jones. Marcella was a daycare provider at Barnett Child Care and retired from Ebenezer Childcare Center after 40 years of service. After retiring from this field, Marcella and Preston provided childcare for many families from their church. She enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, scrap booking, ceramics, gardening and macrame. Marcella sang in the Happy Harmony Choir and the Senior Choir. She was also on the Misson at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. She graduated from Liberty High School in Williamson, WV. She attended Huntington School of Beauty after her graduation. Those left to cherish her memory include five children, Dr. Israel G (Bishop Rita) Spaulding of Naples, FL, DeVonna Spaulding of Charlotte, NC, William S. Spaulding of South Point, OH, Preston (Shelley) Clayborn III of Owensboro, KY, Darius Anthony Clayborn of San Antonio, TX; two aunts, Marcella Woods of Williamson, WV, Nancy Moore of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle, Chester Woods of Columbus, Ohio; two cousins, John Wells of Huntington, WV and Franklin Jones; one nieces, Connie Seals of Williamson, WV; one nephew, Derek Spaulding of Louisville, KY; two brothers-in-law, William (Barbara) Clayborn of Charleston, WV and Michael (Wilhelmina) Clayborn of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Queen Brown of Beckley, WV, Sarah (Danny) Dotson of Lexington, KY, Mavis Savoy of Fayetteville, NC; her life long best sister friend, Hannah Cox of Cleveland, OH; special granddaughter and caregiver, Katina Newman; special friend, Joyce Gregory; twenty five grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Home-Going service will be conducted Thursday, 12:00 P.M, March 20, 2025 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Huntington, WV with Pastor Franklin Murphy Sr., officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be immediately following funeral service at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.
