Pamela Kay Adkins June 22, 1948 – January 23, 2025 Pamela Kay Adkins, 76, of Salt Rock, WV, passed away on January 23, 2025, at Heritage Center in Huntington, WV, after battling dementia for over a decade. On that day, she was reunited in heaven with the loved ones who passed before her, free from suffering and restored to the beautiful soul she always was. Born on June 22, 1948, to the late Lee and Lusta Ross, she was the kind of mother every child deserves—loving, selfless, and unwavering in her devotion. She was everything a parent should be and more. Her family was blessed to call her theirs. A beloved mother and Nana, she dedicated her life to those she loved, always putting others before herself. She was the steady presence in her daughters’ and granddaughters’ lives, the one who righted every wrong and made the world feel safe. Her daughters, Sherri Fannin (Charlie) of Huntington and Suzanne Frye of Culloden, carry forward the lessons of love, strength, and resilience she instilled in them. Her granddaughters, Hana Ball (Bryant) of Huntington, Kennedi Fannin of Barboursville, and Kayla Sowards of Culloden, were the greatest joys of her life, and her love for them was immeasurable. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren—Arya, Perseus, Lincoln, Bran, and Lilith. Though dementia had already taken so much from her by the time they entered the world, she loved them deeply and would have been so proud of each of them. A gifted cook, she made every meal from scratch and never left out dessert. Her home was warm and welcoming, a place where family always felt embraced. Simple joys brought her happiness—a glass of Diet Pepsi and a Little Debbie while watching The Young and the Restless, a good yard sale, or a trinket that held sentimental value. Soft-spoken and kind-hearted, she was a quiet force of strength and compassion. She had a way of making everyone feel loved and accepted. A natural caregiver, she never hesitated to care for others, even when she was unwell herself. She believed in kindness above all else and lived her life with a gentle but unshakable grace. Though dementia stole so much from her in recent years, it never diminished the love she gave or the impact she had on those around her. Her love will never fade, and her family will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 31, 2025 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, WV with Gavin Napier officiating.
