Pastor Ronald Dean Joplin I

Pastor Ronald Dean Joplin I was born on May 10, 1952 as the fourth child to Pleasant and Willie Odessa Joplin in Williamson, WV. He attended Matewan High School where he was a member of various sports teams. Upon his graduation from high school he entered into the coal mines, where he would continue to work for the next 24 years. After retiring from the coal mine, he enrolled in Southern West Virginia Community College where he received an associate’s degree in Business Administration. He then obtained employment with AmeriCorp, serving the youth community of Williamson, WV. While living in Williamson, he was a devoted member of Christ Temple Church where he operated as the youth minister and minister of music. Upon moving to Huntington, WV, he joined New Life Church where he fulfilled the need of Praise and Worship Leader, Intercessors’ Prayer Group Leader, Seniors Minister and Care Pastor. Pastor Joplin was a man of high distinction and class. Throughout his lifetime, he remained full of life and energy. He never met a stranger, and became a true example of the Lord Jesus Christ, exemplifying the love of Christ to everyone he met. His infectious smile would radiate within the room. He excelled in many hobbies such as tennis and pickleball. He cherished spending time with family, watching sports, and creating music, but most importantly, he had an irrevocable love for GOD. Those of us who were fortunate to have known him, understand that the everlasting imprint he left on our hearts is truly a blessing. Pastor Ronald Dean Joplin I was welcomed into heaven on April 18th, 2025 surrounded by his family, of whom he loved dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents Pleasant and Willie Joplin, Pleasant Joplin, II, James and Wanda Joplin, and grandchildren, James Hutsell, Jr, Ja’Cheree Hutsell and Jasmine Scott. He leaves behind a legacy of love, carried on by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Harriet Joplin and his four children: Rhonda Joplin, Sherita Hutsell (James), Ronald Joplin II (Eboni), and Rosalyn Scott (James), eight grandchildren: Jailah Scott, Shailis Joplin, Raiven Scott, Alexis Joplin, James Anthony Scott II, Jah’Mal Hutsell, Jah’Mir Hutsell, and Xavier Joplin. He is also survived by one uncle, Irving Washington, Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, one aunt, Dorothy Washington, of Williamson, WV, two sisters, Sharon Joplin of Matewan, WV, Donna Joplin-Seaberry of Riverdale, GA, one brother Raymond Joplin (Robin) of Matewan,WV;, two sister-in-laws, Betty Joplin of Indianapolis, IN, and Abby Woodson (Eric) of East Stroudsburg, PA., two brothers-in-law, Bobby Jackson of Williamson WV, and Doug Jackson of Louisville, KY, and a host of nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Funeral Service will be 6:00 P.M., Friday, April 25, 2025, at New Life Church, Huntington, WV, with Pastor Josh Huffman officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Friday, April 25, 2025 at New Life Church Huntington, WV. A Home Going service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Christ Temple Church, Williamson, WV with Pastor Thomas Moore officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday April 26, 2025 at Christ Temple Church, Williamson, WV. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, WV.
