William Vickers Earl Jr William Vickers Earl Jr went home to walk with his Lord and Savior on February 23, 2024.William was born September 18, 1944, the eldest child of William and Hazel Earl in Huntington, West Virginia. He was preceded into the gates of heaven by his father, William Vickers Earl Sr.; mother, Hazel Elizabeth Earl (Wright); his sisters, Margie Elliot and Teresa “Blackie” Chin, his brother, John Vincent Earl and nephew, John Raymond Chin. William, also affectionately known as “Jumbo” by his family and close friends attended Lincoln Elementary school and Huntington East High School. After graduating in 1962 he entered in the United States Air Force. Once his service to his country was over in 1966, William moved to Americus, Georgia where he lived for 28 years. While in Georgia in the early 70’s William found Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Shortly after, William entered seminary school and became an ordained Baptist minister. Additionally, he learned the fine art eating boiled peanuts. He also learned to say “y’all ain’t” and “fixin” and the proper vernacular for his native word for pop, Coke. William also had a son, Stephen Michael Earl, during his tenure as a good ole boy in rural southwest Georgia. Fate brought William back home to Huntington in the mid Nineties where he ultimately met Gloria Skeans also known as “the best thing that ever happened to him” and her daughter Melinda who stole his heart instantly. William and Gloria were married on June 30, 1996, and they remained married until his death. William leaves behind his wife Gloria; his son, Michael Earl (Michelle); daughter, Melinda Barton (Shane); two brothers, James “Pete” Earl and Dale Earl (Linda); four grandchildren, Brandi Crowley (Vance), Zach Simpkins, Christian Earl and Max Earl; three great grandchildren, Laith, Leary and Ledger and several nieces, nephews, family & friends who loved him very much. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Baptist Temple, 902 21st St. Huntington, WV with Pastor Andy Magnusson officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by The Veterans Honor Guard American Legion Post 16. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M to 1:00 P.M, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Baptist Temple.
