On June 16, 1923 in the city of Sergeant, KY the chimes of times rang out the news that Randolph Willie Parker was born, a son of the late Willie D. and Lillie Mae Parker. At a young age "Mondo" as he was affectionately called moved with his family to Huntington, West Virginia. He attended Cabell-County Public School System graduating from Douglas High School in the class of 1943. At an early age he became interested in boxing and boxed in the Tri-state Golden Gloves. Randolph was Honorably Discharged from the Civilian Conservation Corps. Following graduation from High School he enlisted in the United States Navy from which he was Honorably Discharged. On February 23, 1945 he married the love of his life Florence Ernestine Washington. He was retired from Inco International now Special Metals after over 34 years of service. He was a member of the "Top Twenty" Social Club where he held many offices including President. He was a faithful member of the Young Chapel AME Church for over 60 years serving as a Stewart, Trustee and President of the senior Choir. "Mondo" not wanting to just sit still faithfully went to the YMCA every day and enjoyed walks in Ritter Park with his late wife Ernestine.. He will always be remembered for his words of encouragement "Hold on and don't let go". On Friday, May 31, 2013 from the Ohio State University Medical Center Randolph was called to join his Loving and Devoted wife Florence Ernestine, parents Willie and Lillie, his brother Clarence and a host of other relatives and friends who preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish her memories; two children, Larry Parker and Gerri Parker Stewart both of Columbus, Ohio. Two grandchildren, Stephanie Parker and Michelle Grant both of Columbus, Ohio, 3 Great-Grandchildren, Kiera, Stephan and Keith Parker-Emerson all of Columbus, Ohio. 3 sisters-in-law Maxine Johnson and Jean Barnes both of Louisville, KY and Lillian Branch of Richmond, VA, special nieces, Paula Kelly of Louisville, KY and Vicki Cooper of Richmond, VA and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be 12 Noon Thursday at the Young Chapel AME Church with Pastor ReLoy Gainey, officiating. Burial with Full Milatary Honors will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00AM until the time of the service at the church.
