Elva Diane Spencer

Elva Diane Spencer, 68, of Roanoke, VA, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice on Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born Sept 17, 1956, in Huntington, WV to the late Leroy L Spencer, Sr. and Hazel L Spencer. Diane was a dedicated and accomplished professional in the field of electronics, known for her technical expertise, work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Born and raised in Cabell County, West Virginia, Diane received her early education through the Cabell County Public School System and proudly graduated from Huntington High School in 1974. With a strong interest in technology and electronics, Diane pursued further education at Marshall University, the Cabell County Vocational Technical School, and Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC), where she focused her studies on electronics. Diane began her professional journey with Xerox Corporation, where she spent several years maintaining, servicing, and repairing equipment across West Virginia and Virginia. Later, Diane relocated to Roanoke, Virginia, where she joined ITT Corporation. She devoted 20 years to her role as an electronic technician, where she became a trusted expert in her field. Diane had a heart full of creativity—she delighted in cooking, stitched with care, let her imagination bloom with every painting, and found joy in singing. She held gospel music close to her heart and was captivated by westerns and political discourse. She was irresistibly drawn to anything that stirred her intellect and challenged her mind. A lifelong learner, she pursued knowledge and new experiences with unwavering passion and a clear sense of purpose. Diane leaves behind cherished memories by her three sisters: Bonnita Johnson of Bowie, MD; Thelma (Lee) Scott of Huntington, WV; and Terri (Donnie) Guerrant of Roanoke, VA. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Roy (Sharon) Spencer of Huntington, WV, and a treasured bonus sister, Anna Marie Palmer-Harper of Los Angeles, CA. Her spirit continues to shine through her nieces and nephews: Lee C. (April) Scott IV, Eric Spencer, Jonathan Guerrant, Denise Scott, Erica Spencer, and Shanna Guerrant. She was a proud great-aunt to Aleena Scott and Lee C. Scott V. Diane held a special place in her heart for her cousin, Shellie Nix; her goddaughter, Alainna Johnson; and her dear sister-friend, Rita Kay Crawford. Her memory lives on in the other loving relatives and friends who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Encouragers Fellowship Church, Huntington, WV. Interment will take place on Monday at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV.
