George Lamont Madison With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Madison on March 6, 2025 at the age of 72. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and best friend, George was a beacon of strength and positivity in the lives of those who knew him. Born into a loving family, he faced the profound loss of his mother at the tender age of nine. Despite the challenges and obstacles that followed, George’s resilience and determination shaped him into a compassionate and inspiring figure. George proudly served in the U.S. Navy for two years, where he developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie. His time in the Navy was a formative experience that contributed to his unwavering commitment to community and service. In 1980, George married his beloved wife, Sharon, with whom he shared Forty plus years with. Together, they raised two sons and a daughter with love. George was a doting grandfather who cherished every moment spent with both grandkids. In 1983, George worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a civil engineer technician. He contributed to the design of the Marshall Bridge Breezeway and various cemeteries, bridges, and buildings. George served Thirty-Six years at the Corp and then retired. At the age of Sixty, George returned to school to earn his heating and air certification, using his skills to help others. George was a remarkable athlete, excelling as a pitcher in baseball and a superstar on the court. His athletic prowess extended to karate in the 70s, earning a blackbelt and showcasing his diverse talents. He was also an avid bowler, participating in leagues at Imperial Lanes, Colonial Lanes, and Strike, earning multiple 300 games and bowling rings. George was a man of empathy, kindness, and understanding. He had a beautiful soul that made everyone feel seen and heard. Though he did not attend church, his relationship with God was strong, and he lived his life following God’s will. He was a blessing to others often visiting friends and family to ensure they never felt alone. He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Daniels Madison; and brother, Neil Madison. Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of Forty years, Sharon Madison; three children, Dominique Madison of Huntington, Nicole Madison of Huntington, and stepson from the age of Four, Aaron Lemar Jackson of Texas; siblings, James Madison of CA, Marie Nealy of PA, Carol Ross of FL and Arthur Madison; two grandchildren, Isaiah Poole and Elijah Jackson and a host of relatives and friends. A Home-Going Service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Huntington, WV, with Pastor Anthony Stradwick officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be from 11:A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Huntington, WV.
