Regina Dorcille Fitzpatrick

Regina Dorcille Fitzpatrick transitioned from this world to her heavenly reward on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Regina was born March 10, 1964, to the late Frank Johnson Sr. and Pastor Martha Johnson in Madison, WV. She was born the youngest of five siblings. Regina relocated to Huntington, WV, during her childhood, and Huntington became her home. According to family recollection, Regina was the deciding factor for her mother, Pastor Martha Johnson, to step into her pastoral calling in Huntington, WV. Regina graduated from Huntington High School in 1982 and attended Huntington Junior Business College post-high school graduation, receiving a certification in administrative office technology. While having a plethora of talents, Regina was known to captivate people with her gift of song. On Sundays, Regina could be found leading praise and worship at her church, The Glorious Church of God in Christ, where she used song as ministry. In her earlier years, she was part of the singing group, the Glorious Voices, which she founded with Robin Lapsley, Monique Banks, Terri Jackson, Leta Barnes, Mildred Brunson, and Kim Fox. The Glorious Voices traveled and sang at different churches and services, spreading the word of God through song. Among her singing talent, Regina was a diligent servant for her church organization. She worked in her church’s treasury department and was a National YPUW board member for The Glorious Church of God in Christ. Her pasta salad and pound cakes were a coveted side at many church dinner functions as she was a phenomenal chef known for her delectable entrees and her kindness in sharing with others. Additionally, Regina demonstrated a love for photography and was always behind the lens, capturing moments with those she loved. Regina relished old photographs of family members and acted as a family historian with all the photographs she collected and took over the years. Also, she was a talented seamstress who was known for fixing the simple misplaced button, making clothes for her best friend’s wedding, church conventions, and her daughter’s baby dresses. Out of all the loves she had in her life, one of her greatest loves was that of her family. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, auntie, and cousin. She married the love of her life, Ernest Fitzpatrick, in April 1988 and shared four children together: Sheldon Fitzpatrick, Elias Fitzpatrick, Elisabeth Fitzpatrick, and Ian “Trey” Fitzpatrick. She was a proud “Gigi” to granddaughters Haiden and Emeri. She was the baby sister to siblings Margaret Massey (Bruce) of Detroit, MI., Frank Nelson (Doris) of Columbus, OH, Frank Johnson Jr. (Carmella) of Roanoke, VA., and Emory Johnson of Denver, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Johnson Sr., Pastor Martha Johnson, and sibling, Leslie Ann Johnson. Regina was loved by all who encountered her. She was kind, funny, patient, and empathetic. We rejoice in our sadness, knowing that Regina knew God as her savior and served him diligently throughout her life. A Home-Going Service will be conducted 12:00 PM, Friday, October 6, 2023, at Apostolic Life Cathedral. Guyandotte, WV, with Bishop Gary Brydie officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be conducted 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2023, at Apostolic Life Cathedral.
